kryzak,

I have a 680 (89%) on my Gmat with 86% in quant and 76% in verbal. I am placed on the waitlist. I know this is lower than the Haas average of 714. Do you think it would be worth the effort to retake the test?

Since my verbal score was lower would it be beneficial to supplement my application with a class?

Thanks for your help!

hi m2009,

That is something that I don't really have an answer for. If you feel that you can improve your score to the average, then I would say go for it. Otherwise, I would think long and hard about what part of your application is the weakest and address that first. Sorry I can't give more advice since I don't really know your full application at all.

Somewhat surprising...in at Kellogg, WL at Wharton, but dinged at Haas?

just when i had given up all hope, i got WL! i was already thinking about what my re-app would look like for next year.

congrats to all the admits. condolences to the dings. i know the ding pain all too well!

to the other WLs, good luck to you all! really work hard to strengthen those apps and i'll see you on wednesday's WL chat.

kryzak, thanks for all the tips. if you want to update me on the list, i submitted 12/9 and got WL notification on tuesday.

my WL game plan is to write a 700 word ish statement on the new developments in my professional life. unfortunately after taking a break from app season, i am only now getting into doing extracurriculars, so not much to talk about there. i have an interview coming up, and i will ask for one recommendation. i've already reached out to haas students and visited campus last month so no plans for that right now, but i can tell you haas students have been super supportive and helpful. i can't recommend this to you all enough.

anyone have thoughts on if it makes a difference sending in these things super soon as opposed to towards the r3 deadline?

Why surprizing? If you read the admission stats of previous years you will see that Haas is more selective than either of those two.

You've got to factor in that Haas' class size is 1/4 that of Wharton's and 1/3 that of Kellogg's, and not surprisingly has a smaller acceptance rate than either. It's also a little more GPA intensive than most other schools, even the M7s.

I'm in the same W/L boat as you. Will be going in for my interview in early April... I'm pretty much going to be doing what you've suggested and plus a gmat retake. When I spoke to the adcom office today, she said that everything submitted before the r3 deadline should be sufficient. I asked if I submitted things as I got them ready and she seemed to think that was fine.

Does anyone know the timing of how adcom generally reviews W/Ls? Would they only look at the W/L pool starting April 28th? I'm assuming after that point, most of us R2 W/Ls should find out fate by end of May? I'm particularly interested in the timing b/c I may enroll in a calc course but the spring course doesn't even start until mid-May and ends late June at the earliest.

If anyone can shed some light, that'll be appreciated.

sorry to hear about the dings...

as for waitlist questions, I'm guessing R3 will be considered around end of April/early May. That's just my guess though.

let me know if you're coming to Days at Haas! Would love to chat with you (if I haven't already) or hang out.

Hey Kryzak-

No word yet on R3! But, just in case, when is the second Days at Haas weekend?

Fingers crossed on getting in off the W/L Kryzak! IF I do, get ready for another poll

For all the R3 applicants, someone on BW forum reported an interview invite.

Kryzak - can you add me to the R3 list? thank you :)

So I participated in today's waitlist chat. The adcom recommended people to submit additional materials by 4/24.

I just scheduled an off-campus interview this week. Good luck everyone!

Waitlisted yet again. It's so frustrating to not be able to get over the hump, even after interviewing, sending in 2 add'l recs, and sending in a waitlist update. If this were any other year other than this year with such a high app volume, I'm sure I'd be in by now

Cornell w/ $30K will have to suffice!
