So I noticed that 11/12 interviewed for R1 got admitted, that's some crazy high percentage. Does this mean if Haas's interview invite means they are VERY interested in your, whereas other schools (i.e. Kellogg) interview with slight interest? Also, do Haas usually WL the interviewed applicants or do they WL uninterviewed applicants?

I think your guess is as good as anyone else's on Haas' interview process [perhaps Haas and Kellogg are the two extremes]
For R1 it was a combination of both...some waitlist candidates had already interviewed while others interviewed after being waitlist..

i think that's a safe conclusion. in r1, about 20-25% of applicants were interviewed.

CONGRATS hmmnyc! Are you coming to Days at Haas?

As for interviews, Haas generally interviews 20% of the applicants, so roughly 50-60% of the interviewees get in. R1 for GMATClub is an aberration. I've never seen a % that high!

Thanks.

I'll probably attend Days at Haas. I'm just unsure of which session.

Do you know whether they call all the admitted students? If so, have they called any international applicant?

I'd like to report the first ding for R2. I've braced myself for this moment for a couple weeks now. It doesn't hurt so bad anymore.

Quote:

Status Description
After a careful review of your application to the Full-time Berkeley MBA Program, we regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission to the fall 2009 entering class.

Each year, we are fortunate to receive an overwhelming number of applications from talented individuals. Although most of our applicants are qualified for admission, we are able to offer admission to only a small percentage of them each year.

Every application is reviewed thoroughly by a minimum of two readers. As we evaluate applicants, we consider their academic background, professional experience and accomplishments, and personal qualities as demonstrated by their written responses and record of involvement. Our applicant pool is highly competitive across all of these areas. Please note that all application decisions are final, and there is no appeal process.

The time and energy that you spent completing our application and awaiting our decision have not gone unnoticed. We appreciate your interest in the Berkeley MBA program and your commitment to furthering your management education. Please understand that our decision is in no way an unfavorable reflection on your impressive record of accomplishments.

Thank you again for your interest in our program, and best wishes for success in your professional endeavors.

R3 applicants, please copy this list and add your name to it (to save me some time), thanks! :)

Dankur, to answer your question, R2 W/L will be interviewed between R2 decisions and R3 decisions. They will be considered after R3 decisions are released end of April. At that point, people will either be accepted or rejected. Some may still be offered to remain on the W/L if they like.

I don't know what the numbers are for last year and this year, as the admissions office doesn't really reveal that too often.

Hi kryzak,

Thanks for the info regarding R2 W/L. I'm an R2 and just got W/L tonight without a previous interview. Does this mean, that I have until end of April to set up the interview? I'm trying to see when is best to interview as I would ideally like to retake the GMAT before the interview.

Thanks in advance.

Hello kryzak, I was placed on waitlist in R2 without an interview. I would like to set up an on-campus interview and possibly attend a class and meet some current students. When would you recommend doing this (day of the week)? In the e-mail it was mentioned that the decision could be released as soon as one month or even April, how does this typically work? What strategies do you recommend to show interest?

I got a call from Peter Johnson at 9 p.m. today. I am in with the Haas Merit Scholarship! :-D
When I left my work earlier this evening I was 100% sure I would get a ding letter. Quite a few of my friends had to endure several hours of my incoherent whining. When I accepted the call I was at a dinner with a EU Commissioner, which is why my replies on the phone were erratic at best. Both parties probably thought I was a total weirdo, which is fine with me as long as the admit to Haas isn't revoked

Sorry to hear that bro....I guess we are both heading in the same direction, pending my upcoming dings in the next couple of weeks. :)

Oh well, it may not be the toppest mba school but it sure is in the best location as far as I am concerned. Think about that complementary tan...

Congrats to those who got in and good luck to waitlisters!
