x cannot be 1, since the statement says that x^2 < 1, and not that x^2 < 1.

From the statement x^2 < 1, we can be certain that -1 < x < 1, and that x cannot be equal to either -1 or 1.

I choose E too for this:

|X-6| > 5
Simplifing :
+Ve -ve
X-6 > 5 -X-6 > 5
X > 11 -X > -1 => X<1
Is this simplification wrong.
Stmt 1 is not sufficient
Stmt 2 says X^2 <1
This can be true only if X is a fraction so -1 < X< 1

Pls. clarify.
