Oh that's alright, we can try to do another thing a few weeks later and rope in fatb and ninky, as well.

And Blarney Stone is a horrifically bad recommendation. If you want to stay Midtown in the 30's, you may as well go to Ginger Man, its sister bar Under the Volcano across the street, or that other sparkly faux Irish place next to the Ginger Man.

I just joined and saw the posts about meeting up in NYC. Can someone confirm the details for me? Are some folks meeting tonight?
(and I agree the Blarney Stone is not a good suggestion.)

meeting will take place next friday 3/12. location TBA (but don't worry, not blarney stone). most likely stout, or a location downtown instead if demand warrants it.

when i was in houston the gingerman was one of my favorite spots to grab a beer. they probably had 100 differnt beers on tap there. when i heard there was a gingerman in NYC i've been wanting to check it out. so i'd be interested in meeting there, unless yall htink it'll be too loud/crowded for happy hour.

It's definitely great but any time before 7:30PM, it actually can get so packed that you literally cannot move. Others will corroborate. I'd still be down to go because of the beer selection but there would very likely be no sitting involved until later in the night.

that brings up another question - what time are we going to do this? obviously we don't all have to show up at the same time, but what would be a good rough start time? 6 pm?

Completely agree. Place is good on late nights or weekends, but after work it's no good.

I may well rock up after my beautiful journey back on the Metro North.

Unless you pick a bad bar. I have to move next weekend (the one after) though, so the wife may but the kaibosh on this without me having any control.

well guys/gals, we're only a few days away. looks like this friday march 12th. let's try and confirm a place and time, and then i'll sticky this post later today. gingerman seems to get too crowded to accommodate us - any other bars?

Definitely not.
Rain is a good reason to be inside with a beer. If it were nice out you'd all be playing Ultimate or sunbathing or something.
