EACH of the following is cited in the passage as a goal of Imagism EXCEPT
a) Challenge accepted standards for poetry b) Promote new and talented poets c) Concentrate on objects over ornate speech d) Experiment with free verse e) Praise Japanese verse forms
the OA is E, but I disagree with the OA.
from the passage, the goal of Imagism is "In a later issue of Poetry, Pound articulated the guiding principles of Imagism, stressing that poets should treat objects directly, use no words that do not contribute to the presentation, and write according to the rhythm of the words rather than an accepted poetic form. .."
Although it does not mention Japanese verb forms, the role of Japanese verb forms would have a closer relationship to the goals of Imagism than the promotion of new poets because Imagism got inspiration from Japanese verse forms, as mentioned in the 2nd paragraph.
Although Ezra Pound promoted new and talented artists, it does not make it one of the goals of Imagism. The goals of Imagism are centered around verse forms and writing styles. The goals of an abstract concept can't be the promotion of people who support that concept...this makes it a empty, circular goal.
Therefore B is less akin to Imagism's goals than E is and the answer to this question in my opinion should be B.
