The Middle East, eh? I personally would like to see Egypt and Dubai. But, as an American, I'm a little apprehensive of this region at the moment.

As for my destinations, I want to see Canada and Iceland the most. Iceland has some very cheap travel packages at the moment. This is due to its economic troubles and the volcano.

Re: Where would you like to travel? [#permalink]
Next Monday I'm traveling to the US with my wife, my little son, my mother in law and my parents. It will be a 40 day trip, and we'll visit California (Los Angeles, San Diego, Yosemite and Sequoia NP), then we'll travel through Sierra Nevada, off to Yellowstone and Grand Teton.
From there, we'll drive all the way to the east coast, through Chicago, short visit to New York and Washington. Great Smoky Mountains NP, and then Atlanta for 10 days (a convention that I must attend).
From Atlanta, back to the west, we'll visit Amarillo, TX, and then Grand Canyon. Maybe also Arches NP or Mesa Verde NP. Las Vegas, and back to Los Angeles.
Now it's the only place where I can think about traveling since we've been planning this trip for a long time.
Unfortunately I won't be able to visit the forum so often, but will try to continue preparing for the gmat anyways.

Any advice what to visit on our way? What not to miss?

Cano, it looks as if you have a busy schedule in front of you! New York City should be a blast. I went there two months ago, and it was great. If you have time, a trip to New Orleans would also be nice.

Hi bmillan,
So far it's been a wonderful trip. In a couple of days we leave Atlanta to the west. Unfortunately, we plan to go quickly and New Orleans is too far south of our way (Atlanta to Amarillo, TX), so we'll skip it. But I've been there several years ago and really liked the french quarter, the music on the street, the steam boats, etc. Sad that I can't show it to my family though...

I made a pact with myself when I turned 17 that I would visit one new country for every birthday henceforth (not on my birthday, but for every year).

I am from India and I came to the US for my 18th birthday, and went to China for my 19th. Now for my 20th, I am going to England. I would eventually want to go on a giant Euro Trip (Graduation trip!! I am still a junior in college applying to the 2+2 program at HBS) and visit Timbuktu, Tibet and Rio De Janeiro. Maybe even Reykjavik.

Next year, mostly, I'll be going to Hungary and Egypt. :D :D

Definitely I would be in US for my MBA. For vacation purpose, I'd love to visit
Paris, France and for business, Dubai is the place for me.

Cano - sounds like a great trip! Is there a particular reason you're going to Amarillo? I'm not overly familiar with Texas, but really enjoyed Austin and Dallas, if you have some extra time. I'm still exploring the west coast, so not much help there.

As for me, I really want to go to Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Finland, Iceland, Peru, and Spain. Not many travels planned in my near future since I'm saving up vacation time for GMAT study and school visits, but I do plan on taking some time off before I start my MBA to do some traveling.

Paris - hands down. Francophile here to the core! And also the rest of Western Europe (can speak French and three other romance languages to a degree)

Also Japan - the blend of modernity and tradition is just amazing.

Am I the only one who would like to go to Thailand? (I'd go anywhere frankly). The pace of life and people are something I have not seen anywhere else - they seem to be contempt and very happy with what they have (however little it is). Super friendly too.

I've heard that about Thailand. I've never been, but yes, would like to go there too. What you say about the people would fit for the Venezuelans as well. Super nice people, very open and welcoming, and happy with what they have. And a gorgeous country!

Thanks BigRedEnvEng - I will put that on my list!
Much closer to the US too. I have not been to South America yet (the most south I got was Honduras).

This may seem lame, but I want to see the west coast. I've grown up on the east coast of the USA and I've never been out west -- people have told me it's like a different world out there!

I have travelled a bit in Asia - India (native), UAE, Oman, Thailand , Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore besides covering China extensively - Beijing, Guangdong, Tibet, Hunan , Heibei, Harbin etc... I have been on short trips to Copenhagen , Budapest and Vienna. If I get admitted to a college of my choice by the end of this year , I will probably take six months off and back pack through South America...
