MBA fits into the healthcare industry just as it fits into any other industry. There isn't anything that differentiate the healthcare sector from say manufacturing.

The Affordable Care Act, doesn't nationalize all the hospitals, pharma, managed care organizations, contract research organization, etc. There will always be opportunities for an MBA in the healthcare industry.

If you are interested in healthcare, there's two schools that are particularly good at this sector: Duke-Fuqua and UPenn-Wharton.

I'm hopefully going to make the transition from biomedical research to pharma & biotech with the MBA in-between the two careers. Pharma is like any other company, you can choose an area with very little to do with actual life sciences or healthcare, or you can have lots of exposure to science/medicine/patients/doctors/R&D/business development... whatever you choose.

Another option is of course hospital and clinic management, and there are schools offering MBAs with focus on those fields. Or you can go into venture capital and work with health/biotech/medtech start-ups. The sky is the limit.

yeah, sky is the limit but i wanna be here on the ground. so let me ask a realistic question:

would the aforementioned opportunities make me wealthy enough to afford organic grocery shopping? there is no doubt why there is such a high correlation between consumption of organic veggies and investment bankers. it is not a coincidence that lloyd does not consume plebian broccoli and has an impeccable forehead (see photographic evidence)

Biotech is just one part of the healthcare sector, but it's the only part I know or care about. So, here is the best one page summary I've been able to find describing what you could do at a biotech company. Genentech's rotational programs do a good job of summarizing the broad functions it sees for people with MBAs and/or other relevant qualifications:
