A ignorant can't come here
B ignorantly and with are incorrect
C & E since is incorrect, it makes the sentence look incomplete
D best among the choices

"professed" ignorantly "to the crime" (ignorantly is used as an adjective)

I think D is the answer.

Doesn't B mean professing to the crime ?

B) ignorantly is wrong

C) ignorance of the crime, since
since fear .. does not make sense

D)ignorance of the crime, for
for is the correct conjunction

E)to have ignorance of the crime, since
since wrong

Can someone tell me whether it is the idiom which makes D an answer or we are using for as conjunction meaning because ?
