I recently graduated from the Kelley School of Business in May 2010, with a dual major in Supply Chain Management and Marketing. I have not went on a job search just yet, because I planned on helping my father with his own business for awhile and try the "entrepreneurship" route. My GMAT test is scheduled for November 17th, and the deadline for my school of choice is Dec. 1st. But this will give me plenty of time to be admitted.
Anyways, I always knew I was going to go back and get my MBA - the sooner the better I thought. So in July I began studying for the GMAT, and had a few schools in mind. Ball State University has a well-respected undergrad Entrepreneurial program, and their MBA is taught by the same professors. Not to mention the MBA is very affordable. However, their admission requirements are super easy - would only need a ~490 on the GMAT, etc etc. This scares me. Simply because if I am going to get an MBA, I do not want to go for just ANY MBA- especially coming from a prestigious school such as Kelley. I am having second thoughts about Ball State now.
I am not even sure if I *want* to do the Entrepreneurship route - but if I did Ball State, that is what I would concentrate in.
I've been second-guessing my decision for the past couple of weeks, thinking about what I *really* should do. Ideally, I wanted to go to Grad school in January, and continue deferring loans. But now I'm having other thoughts. Butler University also offers a solid MBA program, has 600+ GMAT requirements, and is a well-respected program. The only thing is... I missed the deadline. I would have to apply by March 17th, to get in for the Summer session. However, this would give me more time to master the GMAT content, and get into a better school. I do not want to rush such a drastic decision. But I feel like I have been - simply because I want to get into a MBA program and the sooner the better. But maybe not.
So... if I decide not to start my own business, and have my MBA concentration in Entrepreneurship from BSU, would employers simply note that I have my MBA- and would they care about the Entrepreneurial aspect? And would they really care if it was from a Butler, or a Ball State? Not to mention going from Kelley undergrad to a Ball State program (no offense to BSU's MBA program)... would that look bad?
So many things going through my mind... Either way, I am taking the test November 17th to get a "feel" for it, and may still apply for BSU - but maybe I could transfer to Butler once in? Wonder if credits would transfer?... Or the first GMAT-attempt, if I do not get a 600+, I could spend the time until March studying to get into Butler.
What should I do?!
