Hi,
Could you please give your opinion on my profile?
Sure. I'm responding inline.
28, Indian, male
GMAT - 730 (Q50,V38) taken in 2007. Can retake later this year, if necessary.
I don't recommend it.Academics:Graduated with honors from one of the top-10 engineering school, made it to college merit list few times.
Extra-curriculars during college :Treasurer of college society, member of fest committees, organizer of several contests ( technical mostly), member of some other committees as well.
Also started a small business in the 2nd year with my family
Professional experience:
7 years IT consulting experience ( 4 years for a top InvBank out of which past 2 years is international experience in London),
Leading an offshore 6-member team for the past 3 years ,which I led and trained from scratch, on medium-sized projects
Also, performing some business development role mostly working on RFPs
Extra-curriculars during work -(it's a mixed bag)
Over the past two years :
Volunteer with local charity shop on Saturdays
Volunteer with a charity working with families of prisoners
Volunteer in a religious center
Before that (for more than an year ):
Picked up my old business while in India ( but not a huge turnover tbh )
Volunteered with a charity providing educational/career guidance to poor kids
Additional:Keen photographer, Badminton player, Speak 2 Indian languages + English
Goal:I love my industry and I wouldn't mind coming back to it after MBA and contribute high-up in the chain as a C-level executive and lead/start my company
Programs I'm looking for:I'm looking for good general management programs. My research is still on but I'm quite interested in INSEAD ( especially for its entrepreneurship track record ), Duke ( a friend has recommended it very highly as well) , Sloan, Berkeley and Tepper ( all three for being engineer-friendly?
Agree. ).
You have a competitive profile for your target programs. You may also want to consider Tuck, Ross, and Darden.
I'm not quite into Finance even though I'm working for an InvBank. Consulting does interest me but I've heard/read that it involves lot of travelling which is not my thing.
Would you kindly comment on my profile and my chances and my school choice as well as any changes you'd suggest in the same ?
I think you have chosen well, but do suggest you consider the additional programs I listed.
Thanks for your time.
