Please evaluate my profile (Engineer, Male 24 yrs, GMAT:710, WE:4.5)
Total 3.5 years (will be 5 years by the time I join b schools) work experience in manufacturing sector. 2 years of static equipment designer at Godrej. 9 Months at one small private firm as static equipment designer. 1 year at Static equipment and piping designer at Reliance Industries.
I check the mechanical integrity of all static equipments of RIL Vadodara Manufacturing Division. I along with other couple of designers lead the team of 5 draftsmen who prepare drawing for all piping related modifications in all 14 manufacturing plants of our division.
GMAT: 2nd attempt 710(V37, Q50, IR: 7, AWA: 5)
1st attempt 640(V27, Q50, IR: 7, AWA: 4.5)
Graduation:
Cumulative GPA: 8.12/10, Mechanical Engineering from NIT-Surat. (Among top 30 engineering colleges of India)
Extra curricular activity: I have completed half marathon runner at Mumbai marathon. Ran 15 Km at vadodara marathon. Lead the team of 8 during high altitude trekking (14000 ft) in Himalayas. Donate blood at different NGOs (5 times). I know that not strong profile. I am planning to join an NGO, which provides primary education to poor children of the society. I don’t know will that really help me or not.
Schools interested in: MIT Sloan, Yale SOM, Cambridge, University of Oxford: Said, Kellogg, New York University: Stern, Rotman-Toronto (My uncle is in staying in Toronto that's why I prefer rotman) Do I need to consider any other colleges?
I planning to apply in Round1, 2015-16
I am Interested in major career shift. Want to do specialization in finance.
