Topic-People should question the rules of authority as opposed to accepting them passively.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and
explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should
consider the reasons for which the statement may or may not be true and explain how these considerations
shape your position.
It is true that people should question the rules of authority instead of blindly accepting them and obeying the rules. Rules are very important for any Nation to function effectively. It’s easy to formulate rules but people should comply with them at all times. If they follow the rules after knowing the reason behind imposing those rules, they would never ever think of disobeying the rules.
Some Government authorities in few developing countries like India are not truthful to the Government. They get involved in bribery, illegal activities and activities against the Nation. For example, if you want to get new driver’s license and you go to the office. There are few authorities who are not truthful to their work, they ask you for more money than that is stated in the document. During those circumstances, you need to question them. It’s not only their fault but if you bribe them then it’s a great gaffe. In those circumstances you should question the authority instead of passively accepting the rule the authority states. Though it takes a lot of time and energy from your side, to fight against the authority and stick to the original rules, it gives you a lot of self satisfaction and helps in the development of the country.
Even in school, kids are thought to question each and every fact they learn. Why, what, where, when and who are the questions you need to ask before learning a fact in school. Same holds good in adult life. You should question the rules of authority, in order to help in the development of the country. When you look at developed countries like USA, they reached heights in development only because all the citizens of the country followed rules, they did not blindly follow it but questioned each and every rule. This way you can avoid bribery and money being used for illegal activities. If you start questioning the rules, you will shape up to be more intelligent and will get to know the reason behind the rules and will always follow the rules with a reason.
So people should start questioning the rules of authorities before executing them. They should develop the honesty, courage and patience to do that. If one generation changes then it will become a regular practice in the generations to come. This is very important in developing countries. In developed countries they are already practicing it.
