We are told that 18+2=20 of the garments inspected compose 2/3 rd of the shipment, hence the shipment consists of 20/(2/3)=30 garments. We want 90% of the garments to pass inspection, so we need 0.9*30=27 of the garments to pass inspection. For now only 18 of the garments passed inspection, thus 27-18=9 of the garments from uninspected 10 must pass inspection.

Answer: B.

2/3x= 20
x=30

for 90% approval we need 27 garments approved.
already approved = 18
we need 9 more. hence B.

You can check difficulty level of a question along with the stats on it in the first post. For this question Difficulty: Sub-600 Level. The difficulty level of a question is calculated automatically based on the timer stats from the users which attempted the question.

We can let n = the total number of garments; thus:

2n/3 = 20

2n = 60

n = 30

90% of the 30 garments is 30 * 0.9 = 27. Thus, 27 - 18 = 9 more garments must pass the inspection to hit a 90% pass ratio.

Answer: B

2/3x =20
x= 30
20 was inspected
10 was not inspected
90% 0f the uninspected will be
90/100x 10= 9
