between C and D.n I think C is the winner

notice the difference "culture customs and cultural customs".

option C says that X shared many customs of the Q.
option D says that the X shared many customs with Q. we dont know that shared customs are Qs .

thanks

D
shared many culture customs with the Quechua-speaking Incas
The problem in D is the awkward "culture customs" and should be changed to "cultural customs"

Re: pottery [#permalink]
As noted by TomB and AlterEgo above, the phrase "culture customs" is, simply put, a little odd compared to "cultural customs". It is something that I would find acceptable in everyday use, if a little peculiar; for the purposes of this question, however, we have a much better, more elegant solution available - C.

I believe the trick here is sharing smth with someone
well..if we look closely, the original sentence sets the tone. there is no evidence showing that they shared smth with someone. they did have same cultural customs...
moreover, I believe C is better worded

I am still not able to understand the logic here ; C is correct in very form but what baffles me is the usage of many ;

no, you are not correct.
since customs is in plural form, and since it is a COUNTABLE noun, we need to use many and not much.

i got it ; it took a while but yes now i can understand why C is correct ??

Customs:

The non-count noun customs is defined as the agency that collects duties or tolls on imports or exports. (Going through customs at the airport is a common example.) Customs always takes a singular verb in this case. Note that this word is not to be confused with the count noun custom, which is defined as a tradition or common practice. (Taking off your shoes when you enter someone’s house is a good example of a Canadian custom.) In this case, custom takes a singular verb, while customs takes a plural verb.

Examples:

Meaning 1 (non-count noun): Customs is intimidating. I always get nervous when I have to talk to the customs agent at the airport.
Meaning 2 (count noun): Japanese customs fascinate me. For example, their tea ceremony custom is intricate and beautiful.

A.shared much of the cultural customs of the Incas who were Quechua-speaking
much isn't the right usage , moreover who isn't having the right usage therefore out

B
had been a people who shared many of the cultural customs of the Incas and were Quechua-speaking
perfect past isn't the right usage therefore out

C
shared many of the cultural customs of the Quechua-speaking Incas
The meaning is perfect therefore let us hang on to it

D
shared many culture customs with the Quechua-speaking Incas
cultural is the right usage therefore out

E
were sharing much of the Quechua-speaking cultural customs of the Incas
were isn't the right usage along with much , also the meaning is distorted since the culture never speaks therefore out

THerefore IMO C
