Hi - thanks in advance for taking a look at this. I've read a number of your posts, which have been insightful. Without further adieu the specs:
I am strongly considering an MBA with the goal being to matriculate in 2016 (I'm saving money now and would like to sit for level 3 of the CFA prior to the GMAT):
Undergrad Degree: Bachelors in Business Admin, concentration in finance from a state school in PA
GPA: ~2.85 (I do not remember specifically, it's somewhere 2.8<x<2.9)
GMAT: Shooting for a 700
Age: 27 years
Work Experience:
2 years and counting at a data provider (Bloomberg, Factset, Thomson Reuters) in a role with a skillset similar to equity research
Brief stint at a prestigious asset management firm
2 years at a bulge bracket bank in a non-revenue generating role but respectable nonetheless
Skillset: Financial analysis, investing, process improvement, operational efficiency, product development, strategy, etc.
Achievements:
-Manage an on-going project with 5 people directly under me, overall downstream to ~20-30 employees
-Contribute to a new product roll-out by overseeing efforts of 10 temps and 3 interns; conducted feedback sessions to assess performance and develop employees
-Implemented a new user interface for client facing project that is being rolled out (worked with constituents and programming)
-Acted as interim manager through management transition at bulge bracket bank
-Awarded quarterly award for 110K in annual cost saving at bulge bracket bank
-Passed first 2 levels of CFA exam in the first attempt
-Various projects/historic stock studies for performance and valuations
Community service/Extracurriculars:
Social Fraternity - Alumni board president, mentor, council member national level, treasurer and president in undergrad
Various food drives, special olympics, etc.
In short I understand the above is not overly impressive, hence the title. However, I believe there are two critical pieces that articulate 'my story' well, which will be addressed in essays and interviews. Wisconsin is my number one pick; I have spoken to admissions, however I am uncertain whether they are strumming me along, or this is a reasonable goal. Post MBA goal is investment management, which Wisconsin has a great track-record for placements in.
