Hello,
I would like to know my chances at a number of target schools which I plan to apply to next fall. Here is my quick profile.
Work experience: 1 year treasury analyst for a small private company, 3 years a a financial analyst for the PWM division of a bulge bracket bank. I received one promotion and though my role does not have any direct reports I have started training new analysts.
Gmat: 690 (42 Q, 42 V)
College: 3.71 GPA UCIrvine Majoring in Economics with a minor in management.
Extra-curriculars: I was a Division I athlete at my school and I am currently a member of the marketing and fundraising boards of our team's alumni association. I have also been active in a non-profit start up helping children with disabilities enjoy beach activities.
Target Schools: UCLA, DUKE, NYU, USC, Cornell, UVA, Carnegie Mellon (my dream would be Cal, but I am afraid my gmat takes me out of the running)
Post graduation: I would like to move into buy side investment research and management.
Thank you for taking the time to evaluate my profile.
Your extracurriculars are definitely going to appeal to the admissions committees. Still, your GMAT (particularly the relatively low Quant score) concerns me considering the finance goals. I would recommend retaking the GMAT to boost the Q score (without dropping in the V), and demonstrating your individual impact and influence in your finance roles throughout your essays.
