Age : 29
Job Profile: 7 years experience in a leading Indian IT Services company.
Currently playing the role of a project lead, leading a 20 Member team
Responsibilities include Managing a portfolio of 3 Million USD annually(delivery, quality, resource management)
International experience of 3 years(say US).

Education:Bachelors in engineering with 68%.
GMAT: Not yet taken, been consistently getting that 700, and pretty confident of touching that mark in the actual exams.
Achievements -
- Implemented changes in the project team that brought about savings in terms of 1000s of $, while also helping improve productivity
- Part of the young leaders programme in my Organization, where we are actively involved in leadership building programs
- External domain certifications to gain expertise in the business area I work on.
- Member of the project winning project of the year

Ecurriculars:
- Captained my house soccer team for 2 years(though we never won :))
- Actively involved in intra company soccer tourneys
- Class leader during 1 of my school years!
- Executive at my hostel committee responsible for managing our cafeteria, as also tours for the hostel inmates
- Involved in political campaigns in the general elections

My question - How good does my profile look to be considered in the top10 US schools.
Even more keenly, I want to know which Asian schools would you recommend me to have a shot at - I am from India, so ISB is in the top of my list.Would Nanyang,NUS etc would find my profile interesting? What are the top10 Asian schools outside india

targetisb2011:

Apologies for the late reply. What is going to be critical to your candidacy at a top 10 US business school program is your ability to differentiate yourself from the masses. In your particular case, the masses would be the other Indian IT males applying to MBA programs. I was especially interested in reading your extracurricular activities, which on the surface, seem fairly interesting. However, I did not have a lot of insight into how current these experiences are. I also do not have a lot of insight into why you volunteer for the specific activities. I know that you give tours of hostile inmates, but why does this matter to you? Was there something in your background or personal experiences that have compelled to do this type of work?

If you can answer the above questions, this could serve as the beginnings of an interesting candidacy. This is what is really going to differentiate you from everybody else.

Of course, this is all moot if you cannot get a GMAT score that is at the average of the schools you are applying to or above.
I suggest you focus solely on starting for the GMAT and getting a score that is at least in the low 700s. When you do this, please update me and we can take it from there.

Respectfully,
Paul Lanzillotti

Hey Paul, took the gmat got a 710(Q46, V41) - I am not really happy with the results since this came after a 30 day effort, I believe I could touch 750 if I put in some more effort.

Meanwhile, I would like to know the chances that I currently have, with a 710
