Hi Alex,
I am new to this site, but I am about the start the application process and was hoping for some general feedback. Namely, if my schools seem out of range and if I should retake the GMAT.
Nat, Gender, Age
26 year old Caucasian from upstate NY
Target Schools:
Sloan, Wharton, Columbia
Career Goals:
I currently work in energy-focused investment banking, and am looking to transition to an operational role at a global energy company.
Undergrad:
- Wharton Ugrad (Finance maj), GPA = 3.65
- Leadership Activities: Board Member of Outdoor Leadership Program, Club Sports Captain, Debate Captain
GMAT:
This is my primary area of concern. I scored a 700 in late 2007 (right out of school), but the score was imbalanced - 44Q, 41V. The Q was 72ile (which has since dropped to 68ile) so decided to take the test again this year. To my dismay, I scored a 670 on my 2nd attempt, although I increased my Q to 47, my V dropped to 35. I took the test a third time and got a 690 - 45Q, 39V. I've exhausted most of the test prep material and although my highest score will show the 68% quant, I am hoping my good finance grades as an ugrad and work experience will mitigate this.
Work Exp:
I will have 4 years exp at time of application.
1. 1.5 years at top-10 consulting firm.
2. 2.5 years at boutique investment bank focused on renewable energy transactions.
Extracurricular Since Undergrad:
- Volunteer at Clean Energy Start-Up Incubator in NY (bus dev & finance help)
- Active member of cycling club: lead rides & active in cycling advocacy.
Thanks in advance for your help.
