Hey Jon,

Thanks for the response!

I worked for an investment bank headquarted in mumbai. Its a mid-size firm with an employee strength of 400 and presence in multiple continents (including 'MERICA). My role was of an associate on the IB desk- deals ranged from gool ol' M&A, PE to unique stuff like cross border purchases of hospitality companies, brands etc. Did pretty well, with a stellar recommendation from the CEO to support.

My restaurant business didn't really go all to plan, long story short, I ran it for 6 months clocked a revenue of close to 50k USD and sold it for a no-profit no-loss button. Hard decision, but looking at the future a god decision..worked out well. Highly ranked restaurant with a staff of 30+

Put me in front of an adcomm and I will bet on nailing it.

Waiting to hear back!

Thanks,
Shashank

Okay, so work experience and running the restaurant do indeed seem to be pretty good. But without a higher GMAT, those schools are some miiiighty longshots.

So you do have a solid basis, but now you gotta decide to either retake the GMAT or moderate your schoollist somewhat.
Best,

hey Jon,

Thanks again, So I see your point, thanks for that; any suggestions on schools based purely on ROI post graduation (finding a good job in the states is pretty much essential) also what kind of a score do I need to be bang in the middle of these schools?

Don't think I got into ROSS, no invite to interview for R1 :( :(

Thanks,
S

Well, the ROI is preeeetty similar to the rankings. I mean I didn't do a scientific study beyond the statistics that are out there, but there's a reason why HBS is HBS, Tuck is Tuck, McCombs is McCombs, and School X is School X, if you get my drift. The better the school, the better your chances of getting a better job.

For this list? Anything less than a 720 will be tough. They get too many Indian candidates with 730s and 750s to consider low GMATs (unless there is something truly exceptional there).

Keep on trucking though!

I catch your drift good sir; I was trying to hear what I already knew lol.

I am going to take the GMAT again in mid December and work on my R2 simultaneously. I think a 50 point increase should be doable since I barely studied for 20 days before my first attempt.

Can we work together to make sure that I get a call from these schools for R2?
