Profile Evaluation - Ad Agency Background [#permalink]

Hi Alex,

Wondering if you can help me out with an eval. Here's my background:

-Undergrad at University of Southern Cal, 3.3 GPA (Business Admin/Marketing)
-660 GMAT
-7 yrs work experience in marketing, primarily (and currently) media planning
-Media Director at a regional full-service marketing agency, prior was at a dedicated media agency planning for a national advertiser
-Also manage social media strategy at my current agency
-Multiple volunteer positions including AIDS Project LA

I'm looking to stay in the marketing field, with a focus on IT and innovation. Schools I am looking at: U of Maryland, U of Washington, Boston College, UT Austin.

I'm thinking that coming from an ad agency might help me differentiate but not sure? Is that a positive?

You shouldn't have a problem getting into those schools.

However, given your level of work experience, I'd think twice about giving up what you have and spending a sh*tload of money to go to schools that may not get you what you want.

I'd take a look at either retaking the GMAT (if you can get 700+, or a 680 at a bare minimum) and applying to some of the top 16 schools + USC for full-time, or looking at exec ed / part-time programs such as USC and UCLA so that you don't have to quit your job.
