I have written GMAT twice, at first in 2011, I got a score of 660, AWA 5 and never applied anywhere, due to financial crunch. In March 2014, I have tried again and I got GMAT 690( Q: 47, V : 37, IR : 5) and AWA 3.5,. Even though I am disappointed with both the scores, I don't think I have time to prepare and rewrite the exam. But anyway, that was done, and I applied in NUS and Nanyang MBA in the last week before deadline - and got rejected.
After that I have written TOEFL (iBT) and got a score of 108.
I want to start my MBA asap, especially in US/Canada/Singapore or HK. Which are the schools that I should target to, and in in which session? Finances are a bit of constraint for me, as getting a scholarship at these scores don't seems as an option at all. So overall, what are my chances.
More information :-
I am a 31 yr old Indian IT professional, with total experience of 9+ years . I have done my B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering from NIT - Durgapur, with TCPA 68% . At present, I am working in Indian Subsidiary of a Swedish IT firm, with designation as Business Analyst, and filling in a role for Service Area Manager as well to lead a team of 12. Prior to this, I have worked in Singapore for 4.4 yrs, US for 6 months, Sweden for 6 months in various capacities.
I don't want to delay my MBA any further, and want to get into a good school for January intake. Location isn't a constraint for me, but finances are to a certain extent, as I have no one to give guarantee for my education loan.
So first of all, it's a good idea that you don't want to delay any more! The time is right, and with you being 31, I'd say the time is perfect. Your GMAT is fine, although not as high as you might have hoped. But there are still plenty of great programs out there. Good that you have some real international experience too. That should give you a nice boost, as well as your leadership of a relatively big team. The big question is WHERE do you want to apply?
Not just what school, but what continent!?
As a bit of an older candidate, you might be more interested in one-year programs in Asia/Europe, and you might be a better fit there too. Of course there are plenty of US programs that are good options, and if you really don't mind, you can apply to a good mix of schools. Maybe not the top 10/15 schools, but most of the Tier 2 schools should be possible for you.
Best,
J
