Hi,
Could you please evaluate my profile and is there anyhow you can please provide realistic chances at HBS, Stanford GSB, Wharton, MIT, CBS, NYU Stern, or Tuck? Also, should I retake the GMAT considering that the industry I belong in finance and I believe people in my industry have a real high GMAT like 790?
Work Experience: 4-5YRS
Industry: Financial. Sales and Trading
Company: One of the top investment banks
GMAT: 720 (Q:51, V:36)
GPA: 3.9 (Freshmen at a university in South), 3.9 (Sophomore at a university in midwest), and 3.3 (Junior and Senior at one of the top 5 undergraduate business school). The reason for the drop of the from sophomore to Junior year is I got an all-year round internship so had much less time to study than at previous schools where I did not have that internship. I learned the real practice that I could not learn in school which just teaches you theories. So cumulative average comes out to be around ~3.7
Career goal: Entrepreneurship (I have a business that I would like to develop further while at MBA)
Extracurricular: I serve as an advisor in the finance side of a startup company (notable accomplishment: raised couple hundred thousand for the startup)
Strong extracurricular activities in community service, sports teams, etc
For Stanford and Harvard you will want to retake the GMAT in order to be competitive and you have a chance at Wharton but you would improve it with a higher GMAT. Your undergraduate performance does not help you. Moving around and getting lower grades as you studied at a more competitive school is not ideal.
Also what is your demographic information? For some demographics a 720 is not bad, but for others its low at most of the schools you listed. I recommend taking it again and making sure your story is strong. Good luck and email me separately if you don't want to post any of this info publicly:
