Overall I think you’re on target with your school list. I agree about not turning to safeties yet, as you’re relatively young and it would be fine to reapply if needed. Therefore, from both dream and next to dream categories, I suggest only applying to schools you are truly enthusiastic about and would be glad to attend.
Also, bear in mind that while you may have time to do a number of R2 apps, for all of these schools, they must be outstanding presentations in order for you to be competitive, so don’t stint on effort or preparation. Better to apply to fewer, or even to move some to R3, than to compromise quality.
As far as the schools you identify, it’s hard to say because I don’t see
your goals, and they are a key factor in school selection. Assuming you want to stay in finance in some capacity, I might suggest Wharton and Booth out of dream schools. For the next category, really any 2 that most appeal to you – they are very different, but could all well meet your needs. Though I note that by the numbers, Stern is also very competitive.
