Looking to apply Fall 2012
Nationality - Puerto Rican
Age - 25 (26 at matriculation)
GMAT - 760 (Q50, V42)
GPA - 3.54, B.S cum laude, Computer Science, Cornell School of Engineering
Work experience: 4 years at Matriculation
Spent majority of time as U.S Army Infantry Officer. Currently a Captain. Spent the majority of my time as a Platoon leader for a platoon of roughly 42 men and 10 million dollars in equipment. This included a one year tour in Iraq. Had great results. Always ranked top 5% of peer group, also used my tech skill to overhaul the mission management system for my task force (which consists of roughly 1000 soldiers and operates in the Ramadi and Fallujah area)
Rest of my time was as a student. Also graduated Army Ranger School, the "premier leadership school" in the Army, with a first time go. Roughly 30% of attendees achieve this, while roughly less than 50% graduate at all.
University Extracurriculars:
- I was a undergraduate Teaching Assistant for 200, and later a 400, level Computer Science class. Taught 2 classes a week to around 30 students covering advanced topics, etc.
- Active in a Fraternity, was elected Vice President, duties included assisting the President and running the budget
- Cadet Battalion Commander of Cornell University, and its 6 satellite schools, ROTC Program consisting of well over 100 cadets
Community Service:
- Nothing dedicated, just the occasional thing from my Frat or ROTC
I am looking at Harvard, Wharton, Duke, and Stanford. Just wanted to see your view on where my weak points are and how to address them or how to attack these applications.
Thanks!
