Hello kidchaos, thanks for your follow up.

Did you receive any feedback from the programs from last year regarding why they did not admit you? That would be the most valuable information you could get to inform how to approach this year.

How would you characterize the change in this year’s profile versus last year’s in a few bullets?

Best of luck,
Brian

Hi Brian,

Some highlights in my profile this year over last year are:
  • I have provided in-country ground support for an Operation Smile student conference hosted in Mumbai
  • My responsibilities have expended to include more fundraising and student programs rather than just marketing
  • I have created the international logo & branding for the Operation Smile Cleft Care Centre
  • I have started up my own e-commerce business to sell laptop skins - Part of the proceeds go to charity. One category will be such that all profits will go to charity
  • I mentored a student for his 12th grade business class project on "Innovative fundraising in non-profits"

These are some of the highlights of my profile in the past year.

Would love some feedback.

Let me ask you again. Did you receive any feedback from any of the actual programs you applied to last year as to why they did not admit you? I have provided my opinion, of course, but any feedback you received directly from schools will serve as the most valid and salient information to go on. Addressing their specific concerns or recommended areas for improvement would be the most effective strategy for your reapplication.

So, what did the schools tell you last year?

Best,
Brian

Hi Brian,

The schools I applied to last year were UCLA, NYU, Chicago Booth & UC Davis. None of these schools offer any feedback whatsoever on why they did not admit me. So I have no idea what they think but I believe it is mostly because I had very little work ex (when I actually applied it was just abt 6 months or so).

Hello kidchaos,

If you applied with about 6 months of work experience last year, does that mean you now are applying with a year and a half of experience? Even at programs that lean toward younger candidates, that may not be enough. Perhaps wait another year.

As I've said, reapplying requires you to demonstrate how you've grown since you last applied. Giving yourself more time helps your case, in this regard.

Best,
Brian
