(7/4)N <= 30 => N<=17.11 => N = 17.

1 3/4 ft = 1.75ft

pieces = 30/1.75 = 17.14

so answer has to be 17 ( not 18) because only 17 pieces can be cut in full...

Pretty Simple..the answer is choice (c) 17.
All that one has to do is :

1: Convert 1 3/4 into an improper fraction (7/4) or a decimal (1.75)
2: Divide 30 by 7/4 (or 1.75)

7/4 * x = 30

x = number of pieces

x = 120/7 = 17.14.

as pieces cannot be fraction the next whole number is 17 so C
