Questions regarding career switch and impact on waitlist

I am an engineer in a tech company in the US, and need some advice regarding my future course of action- its impact on my waitlist status at 2 schools, and on a probable re-application next year. Any thoughts and suggestions would be really welcome. Here are my stats:
Age: 28/M/US citizen
GMAT: 750 (Q41, V40, AWA5.5)
GPA: 70/100 (undergrad, India), 3.8 (grad, USA)
Work Exp: 5 yrs
EC's: Decent, but nothing spectacular
This year I was waitlisted at Duke and Kellogg, and dinged at 2 schools.
I have co-owned and operated a small business (education services company) over the last year or so while working at my full time job. At this point, this business has been growing, and I am contemplating quitting my job and concentrating on my company. Although there is always an inherent risk in giving up a stable, high-income job, I am prepared to give this business my best shot and see where we can take it. Most importantly, I expect to learn a lot in the process.
The first question in my mind is- will this adversely affect my current waitlist status at both Duke and Kellogg in any way? I am not sure if I was waitlisted for lack of promotions at work (I switched jobs 2 years ago, and was hired at a higher position than my previous job). Will giving up my job show lack of direction etc? For some background, in my essays, I had linked my part-time business with my future goals and what I want to achieve from my MBA degree.
The second question is, if I reapply for the class of 2014 (assuming that I decide to do so), will being a full-time entrepreneur for less than a year also affect me negatively? In general, how easy/difficult is it for entrepreneurs to justify a full-time MBA degree?
Thanks
