Age - 28
GMAT - 2nd try 730 , 1st try was 630, not sure is that a concern
Work - 6 years accounting/tax/audit in North America, now a tax manager in a big 4 accounting firm. Certified Accountant
Extracurricular - decent amount of activities, but nothing stellar
GPA- 3.9/4.33 of a good Canadian University specializing in accounting.
Plan: Switch career from tax to corporate finance.
Plan to work in Hong Kong after graduation from MBA
Target schools: UCLA, Chicago Booth, Columbia, Berkeley, Duke, NY Stern, Insead, London business school etc.
Was thinking of HK UST, but does HK UST have a good international reputation?
Also, I am planning to work in HK after graduation from MBA, so would going to US business schools make sense?
Thanks for your time.
Your first try is not a concern.
Your target programs are appropriate considering your goals and qualifications. Good job.
HKUST has an good reputation in Asia. It is not as well known outside of Asia and does not have as strong a reputation internationally as your other target programs.
The schools you are talking about place graduates internationally, but if you want to move to HK, you can make a very good argument for attending HKUST or other Asian b-schools.
Best,
