We need 'in recovering' to stress the continuing action. A and D are unidiomatin in using 'occuring' and 'having occured'

According to my dictionary, both forms are ok
- aid someone to do something
- aid someone in doing something

A is out beause 'occuring' is not clear.
B is out because past perfect is not necessary.
C is out because "recover from" is the correct usage of 'recover'.
D is out because 'having occured' is not clear.
E is the best answer.
