Running out of time on the Manhattan GMAT Adaptive CATs [#permalink] New post 28 Dec 2006, 08:40
Has anyone else had a similar problem ... I have taken 3 adaptive CATs so far:

CAT 1: timed out after 23 questions ..scored a 550 (25th percentile math and 85th percentile verbal)

CAT 2: guessed on the last 7 questions ..scored a 680 (75th percentile math, 85th percentile verbal)

CAT 3: timed out after 35 questions and guessed on last 5 that I answere ..scored a 660 (65 th percentile math, 93rd percentile verbal)

Is it just me ..or are the Manhattan GMAT Quant questions really that hard to solve ..for me it takes so long to solve each question ..sometimes 4 to 5 minutes ...

Help please ..I have three weeks to go before I retake the test ..and I need that 700 score!!!!!

what should i do? i still have 3 more adaptive CATS on the MGMAT and the Kaplan CAT tests to go through..

please advice!!!

Hi there, don't worry dude. I think we have a consensus here that MGMAT CATs are extremely hard, way harder than the actual test. I think it might be a somewhat useful for practice, but don't worry about your quant score and accuracy. You will do much better on the actual test. If you want an accurate score prediction, go with GMATPrep.

I just finished my 1st mgmat cat.

I found the quants extremely difficult to complete within time limits. I could not answer the last 6 questions in quant.

My score was a poor 690. Q38,V44.

My lowest practice score prior to this was 700 on kaplan.(Q46,V38).

Do I need to be worried?

I won't say they are hard. They are second accurate predictor of your score after GMATPrep.

Here are my scores:

GMATPrep1: 720
GMATPrep2: 690
GMATPrep3: 710
GMATPrep4: 720
Quant always 49 or 50 in GMATPrep.
MGMAT1: 650
MGMAT2: 680
MGMAT3: 710
PR1: 680
PR2: 650
GMATCLUB Challenges (12 Done): Always above 95%ile except in two challanges.

Real GMAT: 700

I had trouble completing the Manhattan CAT. In quant I was able to finish only 23 and randomly guessed the remaining 14. I think the questions were tough, but they were good practice and the concepts were relevant to GMAT.
However I did score about 770 on the Manhattan CAT which was really surprising.
