Q) Dont we have two equations here, one from question stem and the other from statement, the ans should be D...

E it is
(1)(2) together just help to find the price of 1 dough and 1 cupcake.
Since we have no idea about the total number of Dough and Cup bought, we can't find the numb of Dough bought.

question stem says that one kind of dough and one kind cupcake is bought for $6 ... but it doesn't mention the number of dough and cake , so equation cann't be formed

Given: XC + YD = 6.00
where X is the price of cupcakes, C is the number of cupcakes
Y is the price of doughnuts and D is the number of doughnuts

Asking for: D

(1) 2X = 3Y - 0.1
---------------------
2 equations, 4 unkowns !
statement 1 is insufficient


(2) (X+Y)/2 = 0.35
-----------------------
again, 2 equations, 4 unkowns
statement 2 is insufficient

(1) + (2) together
-----------------------
3 equations, 4 unkowns
insufficient

Answer is E
