Unless I'm missing something, I don't think there's any way they'll admit people from the waitlist until after the May 25 deadline. They first need to see how their yield is shaping up before they'll even glance at the waitlist.

The chat transcript from Feb did say they admitted a few people from the waitlist during R2 last year, however it also says the majority of waitlist action happens approximately 6/1 and 7/1.

Does anyone get the mail stating that Sloan might refer some applicants to other partner institutions or MIT Sloan programs :?: :?

I was waitlisted Round 2 and answered (on the website) that I was willing to wait until September. I didn't receive any confirmation email or notice. I also sent in an update email, but no response.

Did people receive a confirmation? I'm not even sure I am still on the waitlist... awfully quiet.

Well.......Today's the deadline for R2 admitted students to respond. Hopefully that means some news re: the waitlist soon. I had always read June 1/July 1, so we'll see. Would love to hear what the R2 #'s look like if someone knows how to find them? Good luck to all still waiting to hear!

Has anyone called the admissions office to hear if they will be taking any waitlisters? The day is almost over in Boston.. :(

There was an admissions chat today (for those interested in applying this fall for the class of 2015). Somebody asked about this year's waitlist, and the response from the admissions officer was that the incoming class is currently oversubscribed, but they will continue to evaluate the waitlist during the summer.

There are a few people on beatthegmat who reported getting offers to enroll in the Class of 2015. I believe they were all on the waitlist for the Class of 2014.

Interesting. I had not seen mention of that in previous years' threads... Is that a normal thing for programs to do? I wonder how many they end up offering deferred admittance to in a given cycle.

I've heard of deferrals before, but AdCom has said that they typically come toward the end of August. For example, in 2007, nobody made it off the waitlist for MIT Sloan, and so some deferrals were handed out in August of that year to enroll for the following year.

I've just never heard of deferrals being offered starting in June.

Another thing to keep in mind is that international candidates usually cannot wait past July 1. It's just too difficult to obtain a visa after that.

I think the class is still fully enrolled. How long are you planning to wait, and are you hoping for an admit or a deferral?

I gave 8/1 as my drop dead date. Deferral is fine by me, I have accepted a spot at another program but I would forgo that opportunity to attend Sloan, even if it's next year. However I am not willing to turn down the offer at this school for an uncertain opportunity ie re-app. So as long as they are giving dings to WL I guess I should find out for sure in the next couple weeks. How about you?

I'm on until 9/1, but it would be very difficult for me to accept a deferral.

i had selected July 1st as the drop-dead date for my WL but I have yet to hear back! Hopefully we hear something sooner than later.
