if by "twice" it is meant "*2" (and not "*-2"), then the slope of the line would be negative, so 1/2 is greater than a negative number

Can you just elaborate why the slope is negative when X x 2?

the line y=ax+b will cut the y-axis when x=0 => y=b (point (0, b))
the line y=ax+b will cut the x-axis when y=0 => x=-b/a (point (-b/a, 0))

if 2*b=-b/a, then a is negative... (in fact a=-1/2)

Thanks for the explanation.

Can I confirm that the X-intercept is [-b/a,0], and Y-intecept is [0,b]?
If that is the case, is the answer of a = -2 [2 x -b/a = b]?
