I would like to get opinions on the following line of thought.
It seems like the best time to take the GMAT is sometime during the last two summers before college graduation. It's good for 5 years from the application deadline, so this will give me up to 3 years of experience before applying. I don't plan on working more than 3 years before MBA school.
I will be at my peak quantitatively... at least from a GMAT perspective. I will have had 2 stats courses, 3 econ courses, 2 accounting courses, a finance course, college calc, and high school math is still fairly fresh in my mind.
I'm probably close to my peak from a verbal standpoint. I've taken English, business communication, philosophy, and several liberal arts courses.
I have the time during the summer between my sophomore and junior years to devote a significant amount of time to preparing, including a GMAT course. I plan on interning for an I-Bank between my junior and senior years and don't want to be distracted from devoting my full energies, since this may be where I end up working full-time before MBA school.
This game plan seems contrary to what I've read on other online posts. So, I'd appreciate any thoughts you have on the wisdom of this approach.
Thanks!
Take it after sophmore year if u are positive that you are going to bschool 3 years after college but I'd recommend padding your resume during summer after sophmore year to make sure u get a good bank for the future.
Also, a great time to take the gmat is after senior year b/c u should have plenty of time to prepare during ur last semester/ summer after senior year and before u go for training at a bank. thats what im doing at least and we will know in a few days whether that was a good strategy...
