I'm starting to go a little batty now that I really have no control over what's going on right now. I only applied to two schools and I'm freaking out that neither will accept me and that I need to cast a wider net. At least I got an interview at my top choice (really early) so that relieves a tiny bit of stress I suppose.

I think that my wife is going to end up divorcing me by December while I wait for decisions. She smacked me over the head with a pillow last night since I alternate between really optimistic and really pessimistic about the whole process and it's starting to drive her crazy.

It's not the end of the world if I don't get in and I need to remind myself of that constantly.

Now, to figure out a way to stop checking Cornell's app status 20 times a day.

I'm going crazy :wow ... my productivity at work has gone down and I'm sleep deprived :oops
I can't stop thinking about my essays, what I wrote, the examples I used and starting to think I did it all wrong!! This is so frustrating!! :wall

yeah, I'm totally stressed. on here constantly. Not doing anything at work. I'm always looking out the window checking bird patterns and cloud patterns to see if they reveal the secrets of the future. I'm tempted to go review some entrails but my coworkers might puke so I'm trying to restrain the urge.

To make matters worse, my girlfriend only knows about it through me really, and I was like "I think I'll be competative at Cornell and Tuck if I write good essays" but now one of her friends is dating a guy who heard from cornell a coupple days ago about an interview so she's totally freaking out

Great thread. It's amazing to me how this whole process is playing out ... two months ago I was certain that once I got the GMAT out of the way it would be so much easier. Then I started essays and realized how hard they were ... and found myself thinking that once I get the essays done things will be so much easier. Then I submitted a few apps and started this absolutely dreadful waiting game ... thinking it will be so much easier once I get some interview invites. Then so much easier once I just get an acceptance ... Ahh, it just never ends...

Classic response ... It's a wonder they scam thousands of otherwise intelligent, thoughtful people into this every single year. And then have the audacity to charge us a small fortune for it!

I think it's only fair to qualify this with "and then you get a super cool 9-5 job and all is well".

Yeah seriously... we've all spent the last few months writing about why we want an MBA, why from school X, y and Z, and imagining the much greener grass in business school. Now I see this and I'm beginning to wonder if I deluded myself into thinking this would be a good idea. I should write an essay "why not mba, why not today, and what about not having an mba will help you achieve your goals" just so I can make decisions from an unbiased perspective.

... MBA != requirement to have an idea, convince people of its value, and make it a reality. It is a very nice thing to have on your resume tho.

Rhyme is bang on the money. You will worry about all kinds of crap. Pressure comes from the strangest places. If I can find it, I will post up an interview schedule I had with a Fortune 500 company, which was set up a few months ago (FT position).

To summarize, it was 9am-6pm and met with three people on the board, finishing up with the CEO. The killer blow was when they told me a charcoal suit, white shirt and purple tie was not quite as conservative as they like to do things.

Did anyone get the Chicago Booth admission chat email? My heart skipped a beat when I first saw it. Then it skipped another beat when I realized what the email was.
