I have always liked Penn's campus. I think it excels in integrating an urban setting with a campus feel.

I went to UPenn over the summer to see an old highschool buddy who is currently in their Med school...

UPenn (including Wharton) is surrounded by the most ghetto neighborhood outside of Bronx NY in my opinion.....

After that I said, I am not sure if I feel safe here....

It was like NYU....open campus....no walls...

I have a friend getting her masters at UPenn now. The only problems she's heard of there with students have been with the ones who rented places in the crappy areas(to save $$), 10-15 blocks west of the main campus. The campus itself has a lot of security and is very, very safe.

So went to Wharton today...the campus was pretty, easy-ish to navigate. I definitely didn't feel unsafe at anypoint. I think some of the current students mentioned (like someone posted above) that the only really unsafe areas are west, where people sometimes live to save $$.

hope this helps!

I didnt know Wharton was 99% leaf

Haha, I was just thinking that. What are they trying to hide behind those leaves...? Just kidding.

I visited Penn years ago (spent most of my time around the law school). I never felt unsafe on campus, but I spent a lot of time with current students at the time and you didn't need to go 10-15 blocks from campus to get to unsafe areas - 3-4 blocks in certain directions was enough. I wouldn't think twice about attending based on campus security, but it's definitely a place where you need to keep safety in mind at all times (same could be said for Yale, Chicago, Columbia, Duke, etc.).

I've been to UPenn a bunch of times over the past dozen or so years and nearly ended up at Wharton this fall. It's definitely a much safer place than it used to be. While keeping an eye out for safety is always a good idea, you should be fine as long as you don't head more than 10 or so blocks west or northwest. There's really no reason to head in those directions anyway. Just live in Center City, east of campus... most folks live there and it's more fun.

Audio, I would've dug the photos more if it weren't gray and rainy :-D
