A few my notes about time:
- don't spend more than 2 min per question, you can do so only if you have reserve. Otherwise, you can essentially damage your score at the end.
- find an appropriate way to check you pace. For me, I just did some fast math with current number and left time to figure out do I have reserve or I need to hurry up. Many others just knew exact time for 5th,10th,15th,20th,..question in Quant and Verbal section. So, you can write out and memorize such table or find it here in forum.
- always time yourself.
- Quant. DS questions in many cases can be solved under 1 minutes. So, it is your reserve
- Verbal. SC questions in many cases can also be solved under 1 minutes. You need this additional time for tough RC. RC can be answered also fast by using Rhyme's technique, "scanning" of a passage. But it didn't work for me.
- Educated guess. Even when you don't know answer for sure, you have to guess, to guess educated. It will come with practice.
If you follow all these principles, time won't be your enemy anymore as you will able to manage your pace as you want regardless hardness of problems.
In my signature you can find link to the timer designed for GMAT.
Good luck in preparation!
