I know this question was ask somewhere, but I couldn't find it.
In many application, I see this question. So what should I answer? Be honest with some big names, or just list some underscores to give that school a pleasure that it is my first choice?

If I recall correctly, Duke specifically states that the only purpose of the question is to help with their marketing and it is not used as part of their decision process. Up to you whether you believe them or not.

I visited Duke and most students asked me where else was I applying. It was ok at first and then got a little irritating ! The students were quite friendly, the staff excellent, facilities poor and the surrounding area quite depressing.

NYU - Admitted
Cornell - Interviewed
Yale - Interview Invitation

Looks I should have applied to at least a top 10, since I got invitations from Cornell and Yale.
