When to check answer explanation for questions? [#permalink]

Hi jjkk,

In my prior post, I agreed that checking the explanation after each question can be beneficial (especially in the early 'phases' of your studies). There are likely some other factors that you should consider about your study routine, which is why I asked those questions. If you can answer them all, then I'll be happy to offer you some additional advice.

hi

1) How long have you studied? last year 3 months then i stopped after getting 590 on the test.. then this year 1 month n got a 580.gettin the urge to quit again..
2) What materials have you used? OG 2016 2015, verbal.
3) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)? 590 (q 46 v 26 somewhere around there) 580 (q42 v27)
4) What is your goal score? above 700
5) When are you planning to take the GMAT? scheduled for 11/5.

math im not that worried about. i plan on getting 50 or 51 eventually. i understand most of the problems except that i made stupid mistakes ..my personality.. cant get rid of this bad habbit.
its the verbal i am worried about. ez ones are too ez and hard questions i just cant seem to understand them. sc, cr, rc all of them..
when the hard ones come out i just end up guessin alot of them..

I do not have a study plan or how its best to study.. i am just doing alot of problems .. i dont think its that effective to nail the hard ones though..
esp RC i do not have time to re-read what i didnt understand..CR too when the hard quetions come out I have to re read it and that takes well over a min..
any suggestions?

Hi jjkk,

Many Test Takers who use a 'book heavy' study approach end up getting 'stuck' at a particular score level, so you'll likely end up needing to invest in some non-book resources. The OG books are great sources for practice questions, but they're not designed to teach you Tactics, patterns or the little 'secrets' behind the GMAT - for those, you'll need Course-oriented materials.

Your current Test Date is in approximately 2 weeks, but that will likely not be enough time to properly raise your score to the 700+ level. As such, you should consider pushing back your Test Date.

1) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
2) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
