I am new to the GMAT myself and actually getting ready to enter a serious preparation course soon. But I think there are many ways to reach your goal. But most importantly the way to score high on the GMAT as on any test would seem to be through rigorous preparation, practice, hard work, and if you can afford it, its good to take a course.

well we already have so many stickies and experience threads.
but unfortunately people prefer to shoot questions first ..rather than digging into to the forum..
but its not their fault...we all were same when we started the journey !

Not being sarcastic, but only you can really determine that.

What is your baseline score? You'll need that to gauge where you stand. You'll also need to analyze your preliminary exam to gauge your weaknesses.

Based on that, you will need to determine how much time and effort you are willing to put in.
