Yale and Cornell - Finance [#permalink]
29 Mar 2011, 19:42
Hi all,
I will apply US BSchool this fall.
How is the finance for Yale and Cornell? After consulting with several people, they advised me to add these two schools on my list.
having done some small research, it seems Yale isnt strong at Finance. Cornell is finance OK but its ranking seems a bit low (around 15), which I worry Cornell may not be the core school of top tier banks.
can someone please provide me some insides about the Yale and Cornell's finance? are they strong enough and how about the alumni networks?
currently, i have wharton, columbia and stern on my list.
Thanks, Vince

Thanks, Vince They are both good schools for finance. I would apply to the schools on your list and then worry later once you get accepted somewhere.

I currently work for a top tier bank (GS/MS/JPM) and the HR department that recruits ibanking associates confirmed to me that Cornell is a target school. FWIW, they also confirmed that Duke Fuqua is one too, so you may also want to add it as well.

Also note, for same bank (probably same goes for consulting as well), international office has a different core school list than domestic office. But BschoolBound said is certainly true. Fuqua is on every target school list of those companies. (Shameless plug for Fuqua on a Cornell and Yale thread, haha)

Both are solid BSchools with some finance concentration and recruiting from some firms. While not on par with core finance BSchools on your original list, Y and C offer good education. There are active student clubs, finance electives and internships available. Add them to CBS, NYU and W
