Hello all,
This is my first post on the forum but let me say I've been lurking for weeks now and I've found this site to be a TREMENDOUS resource for the GMAT...perhaps the BEST!
Anyway, here's my situation. Signed up to take the GMAT on June 1 (right before the switch) and aiming for a score goal of 740+ with 80/80 split. My study plan thus far (and
MGMAT CAT scores) are as follows:
March 8: MGMAT CAT 1 (including AWA, before any studying): 46Q (79%)/41V (93%)/
710 (94%)3 weeks of dedicated Quant studying, using the Kaplan Math workbook (weak, I know) covering one section each day, plus 10 OG problems covering that subject area per day.April 8: MGMAT CAT 2 (Quant only, including AWA - no Verbal): 47Q (81%)
2 weeks of dedicated CR studying with the MGMAT CR workbook, plus 7 CR questions per day in OG in addition to 1 OG RC passage/5 OG Quant problems per dayApril 21: MGMAT CAT 3 (no AWA): 41Q (64%)/45V (99%)/
710 (94%)The biggest things I noticed:
-I always feel VERY pressured for time on the Quant section and end up having to guess on the last 4-8 questions to make time. I know I need to improve my timing/guessing strategies in this regard...
-Conversely, I seem to feel very relaxed on the Verbal section and have no time concerns whatsoever. On the
MGMAT CAT 3 I could coast through the last 5-7 questions, taking my time.
SO, wonderful GMAT Club forum members, the questions is now what to do with 5 weeks left until the test date? I feel like my studying so far has been mostly worthless because of the decrease in Quant scores, and the area I have traditionally done best in/have done the least studying for (Verbal) is what has stayed the steadiest/improved the most.
My original study plan has me focusing on SC for the next 2 weeks, but that simply seems worthless now since SC (and verbal overall) has been my stronghold. Likewise, I have not done any dedicated RC prep but have done well on the questions on the
MGMAT CATs. I'm thinking I should return to Math for a while but what would you all recommend as the best resources for it? Any books/GMATClub or other online resources you think would be the most helpful?
BTW, my weakest areas (by % correct) in Math, according to
MGMAT Reports, are:
Number properties (39% right)
Geometry (44% right)
FDPs (60% right)
Algebra (61% right)
Word Translations (62% right)
Looking forward to your helpful replies
Thanks
