A good thing to incorporate in the essays.
Try to plug these in about how you can give back to ISB.

Ankur, did you reply to my post or to Devashish's ?

If to mine, which '"good point" you are referring to ?

I didn't get your reply completely hence I am asking.

Neither, I think :-D

I think he is referring to using the clubs at ISB as a way of giving back to the ISB community.

So don't bother ... Apply when you are fully ready!

This should be the main takeaway for the majority of the applicants. I personally feel that CAs, Docs, PSU applicants (generally anyone who can add any form of diversity to the classroom) find it easier in either round

No... A candidate with a PSU background hardly has any chance in R1 and a CA or Doctor will find it very difficult to get in in R2... Trust me on this one...

!

An important announcement!

Hi All,

We have collaborated with the ISB admissions team and will be having a Chat session with Mr. Rupesh Bisht.
Here is a snapshot of his profile at ISB.

"Rupesh Bisht heads PGP International marketing and the Young Leaders Programme at ISB. He is Associate Director with Admissions and Financial Aid Department at ISB and also an alumnus from the class of 2009."

Timings for the session: 8.30 PM IST (8:00 AM PST) on 1st of September 2014.

All the people who could not join the session last time or had some unanswered questions, here is your chance. Do join and get all the queries clarified.
There cannot be a better time for the session. Most of you would have completed the initial draft of the essays and would have some questions regarding what all to add and remove.

Get them clarified :)

All the best! and happy essays writing :)

Guys,

with 15 days for ISB's R1 deadline, the countdown has begun today.

Surprisingly, I see very little traction on this thread. Let's build momentum and gear up for the big day.

Keep your questions coming in all of you, and benefit from the collective advice of your peers (and consultants, ofcourse  !!)

All the best!

Hi,
I am a woman re-applicant working on my essays currently. I would like to know if I can highlight women issues in business. I want to know if it would sound feminist? I don't want to sound feminist, but I also find the inequality so apparent.

Bullzeye, does your answer hit the bull's eye? What question asked by ISB does this directly answer? If your answer sounds irrelevant to the question, do not attempt it, no matter how strongly you feel about women empowerment.

Once you are inside ISB, you will get many forums to talk about this and express your views. Similarly, when you are a manager of consequence a few years later, you can implement strategies within your capacity to address this matter.

Hi Guys..

Just wanted some info on the interview location options in the application. The options available include Bangalore,Mumbai etc. but the Note below the field in the form asks us to select only Hyderabad, Delhi or Mohali. Any idea if these are the only interview locations and why other locations are available to be selected?

Sorry for the delay.

An excerpt from the brochure

"A panel of ISB representatives will conduct personal
interviews in Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad only.
Overseas applicants will have a telephone interview
or can opt to visit the campus for the interview in person."

Hi...where should we include the details about internship?? In experience section or education section??

ISB (in fact any top B-school) considers only full time experience after graduation. While you can talk about the experience in your essays it will not count towards your work experience.

Edit: If you're really very keen to include it, check with the helpline. +91 40 2318 7474

Many of you must be thinking

What to do now? I have submitted the application for ISB

Here is the answer:

1. Do not stop, continue writing your essays for other B-Schools. ISB may be your first preference, but you should always have back up. Do not be complacent and do not stop.
2. Start preparing for the interviwes. Practice never hurts. Sit down, reflect on your profile, introspect as a person. and think about why you ant to go to ISB. I
will write a detailed post later about ho to get started for the interviews.
3. Please come ahead and participate in the discussion :)

Regards,
Ankur

Looking forward to your interview post.

Few things I did right and wrong during my previous interview prep:

Right
1. Thoroughly reviewed my app, came up with all sorts of questions relating to them.
2. Spoke to lots of current students regarding ISB, tried to gather as much information as I could
3. Updated myself with whatever happened during the past 1 year in my industry
4. Why MBA? Why ISB? : two question I wrote answers to, reviewed, took feedback from all places
5 Relaxed

Wrong:
1. Extra-curricular improvements in my profile, didn't have much to talk here
2. Didn't thank the interviewers after my interview
3. Extempore preps: Could have done better?

Wow. We didn't have this much activity prior to submission of applications. Now everyone is worried about getting interview calls.

We men are strange creatures, we worry only about things over which we have little or no control, yet pay lesser attention to those things over which we do have more control. Just a thought.

ISB has still not updated the dates.

Expect a call one week prior to your interview date.

Whats funny is that this link has the interview dates: https://pgpapp.isb.edu/user/KeyDates.html
