Hello! This thread’s purpose is let you know about a very unique new MBA program.

I’m a current student in this program; my name is Jordy. I know a lot of focus out there is on the elite and well known schools. They’re well known for a reason, but they still typically teach the traditional MBA curriculum. My program is called the Corporate Residency MBA. It is based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada at Dalhousie University. The program is brand new; I’m part of the inaugural class. What makes this MBA different is that it was specifically designed by corporations and employers. They literally got together and wrote down a list of things that they just were not getting out of traditional MBAs. Then Dalhousie’s Faculty of Management took that list and (much to the surprise of the corporations) delivered.

The CRMBA does teach the traditional stuff: marketing, finance, operations, etc. But it also has a heavy focus on soft-skills and personal development. The application process involves a special screening that makes sure every candidate is not only smart, dedicated and capable but also employable.

The CRMBA is a fast track program. You do NOT need ANY previous work experience to be eligible. They took me right out of my undergrad from psychology. All degrees are not only welcome, but encouraged. The curriculum is designed to forge deep relationships with not only your classmates but with your profs and the staff.

Also unique to this program is the 8 month Corporate Residency, whereby you go to work for a company, or even start your own. And you’re given a REAL job; you are NOT just an intern. If this sounds interesting at all, I am more than happy to field any questions as a current student. We have a variety of online tools to help spread the word and communicate our mission. The most central is the main website: http://www.dalmba.ca/cr.

Every Thursday I personally publish a blog after interviewing one of my classmates to get their perspective. The blog can be found here: http://www.dalmba.ca/cr/blogs.

There’s a Twitter feed: http://www.twitter.com/dalmba

And Facebook pages!
