I suspect that I will be matriculating at McGill in the fall when all is said and done. Im still waiting (and have been waiting for nearly 12 weeks) for a decision from York and have been informed that the Assistant Director of the MBA program will be personally recommending my file for admittance in the next adcom meeting. However, I've been treated very well by the folks at McGill. They've been expedient with their admission decision, have offered me a generous financial aid package, and the Desautels program seems to be a program that's really on the rise since it privatized and changed its curricullum. I think I would have to be blown away by a scholarship offer from York in order to change my mind at this point, especially since I've paid my deposit at McGill already.

Having said that, I do believe that I'd prefer to study and work in Montreal post-grad, although I believe that the Schulich program may provide me the best opportunity to pursue my interests.

It'll be a very tough decision to make (assuming I even have a decision to make) but I suspect I'll be in La Belle Province in August.

Hi Fergtron, so I was recommended for admission last Friday, and I plan on accepting the offer. How long did it take for the Graduate and Postdoctorial studies office's official acceptance to go through for you?

Thanks,

Kurt

Well, the process confused me a bit. I think there was a miscommunication or misunderstanding on my part. Essentially, I was informed of my acceptance via email by Antoinette Molino on February 2nd. Scholarship information was also given during that email. I was told that the "official letter" of acceptance would come from the Department of Graduate Studies in several weeks and the timeframe for acceptance of that offer would be given within.

On February 10th I received the official package from the Grad Studies department with the note that I have 2 weeks to make a final decision to accept the offer of admission. The letter was dated February 2nd and the two week period began at that date. So, I only had 5 days to make a final decision upon receiving the letter which I was surprised about given the earlier communication I had with Ms. Molino. That's why I feel as though I may have misunderstood what she had said. Having said that, Ms. Molino was more than accomodating, giving me a two week extension on that offer.

So, congrats on the offer and perhaps I'll be seeing you in the fall

So I got the full admitted status today from the office of GPS, I went in to pay the deposit and was shocked to see its so high. I assume this goes against the tuition but can anyone confirm that?

That's correct. It does go against the first year's tuition.

Correction : Quebec Acceptance Certificate(CAQ) and then canadian student visa.

I applied to CAQ yesterday(online mode), but got stuck with couple of fields, hence had to cancel the application.

One of the field was Accompanying persons.
My query is; I want to bring along my wife on a open work permit; should I apply for her CAQ at this time along with my application ? If yes ,then what is to be filled in the field ‘Reason for being in Quebec’, the options in the drop down menu are; Canadian Citizen, Foreign Consular Staff, Foreign Diplomat, Foreign Student, Permanent Resident, Person without Status, , Refugee, Temporary Foreign Worker, and Visitor.

Which one should I choose considering I want her to work(preferably in Quebec, but even Toronto is ok) while I am studying so that there is no financial burden on me.
