Accepted at the University of Florida (Warrington) today (02/28). I personally met a faculty member after a seminary in my country.

Hi sharpshooter - welcome to the club. If you don't mind, it will help the rest if you can post your profile. What other schools are you applying to?

I got rejections from Chicago and LBS today...awful. Maybe it was a mistake to apply for PhD in Finance.

My profile, BA in Mathematics and Msc in Financial Economics in UK, GMAT 750, no work experience.

I have six more to go...all in the top tier. Guess I'll just go get a job in the end.

Me too ... dinged at LBS.

I second your opinion, competition in Finance PHD is tooooooooooo severe for a mediocre person like me.

I thought with 740 GMAT, BS in Science, MBA degree and strong recommendations would secure a seat in FIN PHD, at least in top 20-30.

Man ... I was totally wrong! 3 damn rejection so far
( still waiting for 4 other schools, wich I consider as "safe" schools)

If I don't get any offer this fall, I will withdraw from the race next year!

The whole process has shaken my confidence, I start to think that I am not good enough for this academics career.

Good luck to you all ...

Hi folks,

I have got two accounting offers so far. One is from Duke and the other from LBS. Dose anyone know which is better in accounting area? I am a Chinese student currently living in the U.S.

Tempated by the experience in another country, but I am not sure whether I can land in a good faculty position if I go to LBS...

I will appreciate if anyone can give some comments about these two schools.

Finally I get to add myself to the list that I have started and the site that I have done up (https://www.gradjournal.com)

And it is a straight ding from Wharton (i.e. no interview, etc.) for Operations & Info Mgt.

Let me reiterate the fact that finance admissions are brutal. I've applied to 13 programs.

GMAT: 770
Undergrad: 3.4/4.0 BS Statistics - Strong US Private University

8 - top 20 mba rankings
4 - 20-50 mba rankings
1 - 70+ mba rankings (Ultimate backup)

So far I've been accepted to the bottom two options (I'll be satisfied with the 20-50 program, I've had good contact with them and really like the faculty so far), I've heard from three of the top 20 programs and been denied at each one without any interview or contact beyond a ding. I still have 8 total programs to hear from, but am not feeling optimistic of making it into anywhere else. At least I have somewhere to go which is more than a lot of people can say.
