I have updated the Spoilt Error Log V0.0.7 with timer functionality. "TestGrid4GMAT_latest_version.xls" code was very complex and inefficient. I have used better, simple and efficient code.
To start timer you have to double click the 'Your Answer' Cell, select value and double click on 'OA' cell timer to stop. I can only attach 2 files in one post, so I have included snapshot in help page of the attached sheet. Try it !!!
Please don't hesitate if you need more help.
Changes: 1. Timer functionality included. 2. Updated Clear Log button. (button will be automatically deleted)
Apoligize I didn't get back to you soon. I was out of office on business trips, so I didn't check in GMAT Club recently.
Just tried this sheet, this is cool! But I feel that every now and then I have to double click twice for each question. It disturbs my thoughts, I couldn't concentrate as usual. If possible, can you set up to double click just at the very beginning and the very end when the tester finishs his last problem?
Thank you.

Re: Competition for the Best GMAT Error Log Template [#permalink]
I focused on building a user-friendly and simple to use application , rather than cracking hundreds of functions. Honestly, an error log won't make you any better by itself, it only will tell you in which areas you must work harder and in which areas you are rocking the house. And that's what my proposal does, no more no less.
I used similar colors to those of GMAT Club in order to help people feel comfortable using it while they spend the hours cracking questions through the forums.
Finally, my gmat exam is TOMORROW(!) so I hadn't plenty of time to do this. It's not an excuse for the contest, rather a promise that I will make it better afterwards. Some areas that can get improved are: 1) More thorough database 2) CAT-Specific sections 3) Decent help section 4) You decide it!
When the contest ended I'll open a new ""official"" threat for those who will be using it and want to implement some improvements.
*Several warnings prompted up when saving the 2003 version, I'm not sure if it'll work fine!
Hi Saruba, Your error log looks great. i am trying to use it but the cells are not editable. im sure im missing something. can you please briefly tell me the steps to use it.
Thanks, SM

Re: Competition for the Best GMAT Error Log Template [#permalink]
Great work guys! I'm just starting to study for my GMAT and decided to use the first error log (friendly error log by Saruba). I have a couple of (stupid) questions: - What is OA? Is that the correct answer? - How do I actually use it? Each question that I get wrong I enter into the log and then review the appropriate areas in the last 2 weeks? There is no field for page number or w/e, so how do I record that?
Thanks!
saruba

Hey nickk, thank your for using the friendly error log.
1) The OA is the Official Answer. As you say it is the correct answer. 2) The idea of the error log is to record your performance in order to get information of your weaknesses as well as to know the areas for improvement. In short, it helps to focus on the areas where you have more difficulties. There's no page number because you don't necessarily need it, you can select the book you are using and the question you're referring. Eventually, I didn't consider correct questions to be included in the error log (in fact the name itself is just that).
This is a beta release so it's not perfect, maybe neither appropriate. There are some other error logs that seem to be more updated, maybe you find them more useful. In case you didn't read about it, the password is 8887.
i read through the entire thread, but i'm still a little confused (or maybe more confused?) because there were so many updates to the error logs. these are the conclusions that i've drawn:
1) saruba's friendly error log won. 2) spoilt then created the awesome error log which improves upon saruba's friendly error log? 3) the awesome error log is now the preferred choice?
will someone please correct me if i'm mistaken? thanks!

Hi username123, After Competition, I improved all 3 logs (Friendly_by_Saruba, Awesome_by_Saruba_Spoilt_Trianglock and my entry GMATClub Error Log )
1)Yes you are right - Saruba's friendly error log won. 2) No, the Awesome Error log(Created by Trianglock + updated by Spoilt) is combined result all three logs by Saruba, Spoilt and Trianglock. 3) All logs are preferred - use the one that is good for you. (Try it!!)
All suggestions are welcome, I will keep on updating the logs.
3) All logs are preferred - use the one that is good for you. (Try it!!)
I've downloaded all 4 and got an error message with the GMATClub Error Log, so I guess it's down to the other 3. It's a little overwhelming considering that I haven't started my prep yet. Are there any more recent threads that discuss the specific features of each of the current versions of error log choices?

Re: Competition for the Best GMAT Error Log Template [#permalink]
Thanks for posting the error. I just checked and it appears for me too in .xlsm (office 2007 version). However, version .xls is working file. The problem is with microsoft conversion tool in older version.
use the version(.xls) i.e. GMATClub_Error_Log_V3.0.xls.
