INSEAD seems like a great school but the language requirement seems steep.

I personally don't think its that steep. Most people today speak at least 2 languages and learning a basic level of a third exit language could be achieved before or even during the program. I think its in sync with their message of delivering MBA grads of strong international outlook.

Jan intake gives you chance for internship in Summer whereas Sept intake does not. I think that is the main difference rather than anything else.

January intake is more competitive because INSEAD is one of the very few schools to offer an intake in January.

Hello alll!
glad to see this thread up and running. Count me in for R1- sept 2011

Shaselai, cant tell how competitive your profile is just based on GMAT, GPA and work ex. You also need to look at industry and function and what else you bring to the table? What is your complete package though work, acads and extra curricular activities.

Does anybody have information on the recommendations ?
Will the links provide a space for a recommendation letter ? or will it link to a list of questions ?

Re: INSEAD SEPTEMBER 2011 Intake [#permalink]
i went to the fair over the weekend and chatted with one of the alums. Now i want to go there even more! he said he got his decision pretty quick when he applied to R1. it is also interesting that the student needs to pass a language test to graduate - he said the test is pretty simple but students are required to know 3 languages (2 coming in) upon graduation. he opted to learn French(he knows 5 languages) so he could experience France while he attended INSEAD :).
Also, is 5-6 years WE high enough for INSEAD or they want people with even more years under his/her belt?

i'm planning to apply in R2 as still working through essays (not started actually, just jotting down ideas) and planning to approach my client for a reco. wanted to apply in R1, but i guess a stranger app in R2 is far better than a rushed one. so taking my time. this would be a nice thread to follow.

I'm also thinking of applying to INSEAD but it's one year MBA and I'd rather do two year MBA since I'm not sure what I want to do in future

Re: INSEAD SEPTEMBER 2011 Intake [#permalink]
The september intake does not have internship. So that is a missed opportunity. On the other hand, INSEAD (brochure?) points out that more than 80% changed career/ function / country and more than 20% changed all three .. I am not sure if I remember the percentages right..

the INSEAD site says 12m program better for people willing to move to investment banking as typical hiring culture is through internships, agree with this

the INSEAD application locks some of the cells after you generate the recommendation links. Anyone has first hand idea, which cells are locked?
