MBA after PhD in Science with a good job in industry. Yes/No?

Hi all
I wonder if someone on the same boat with me (or anyone knowledgeable about the topic) can give me a suggestion whether it's worth for me doing MBA or not. MY background:
31 y.o. single man living and working in Europe
BSc, MSc and PhD in Life Science/Biotech
Been working in industry right after my PhD for almost 3 years as a scientist/specialist (not RnD)
Been working for 2 large, multinational companies with >50000 employees (good employers)
Current company is a Biotech company
Earning around USD 80k with many vacation days (European style)
In general: happy with my job, earning enough money and very good work life balance
BUT, lately I've been thinking that it's quite hard to get into the management position in large companies. Most of real managers (with subordinates, not only in title) in the two companies I've been working at are above 40 y.o. I would love to transition to management position in similar companies in the next years. However, I don't want to change field. I love working in a field related to Life Science for sure. Now I'm wondering about how much is the added value of getting an MBA now. I am hoping that having an MBA can propel me faster to management position (looking at the facts a lot of managers in my current company have both science/technical background and an MBA).
I'm thinking of applying for a full time MBA (as I really don't want to work and study at the same time) in the US probably. I have started studying for GMAT since a month too. But in general, I'm still not very sure of leaving my good job for an MBA now and still wondering about the added value of an MBA in my case.
I would really appreciate someone's input, especially those with technical PhD who has or about to do MBA.
Thanks and cheers,
greenzie
