i was accepted R2 but still haven't received the email with the link to the admitted students website yet... just wondering if any other R2 admits are in the same boat as me?

Is it weird that I'm an R2 admit but I haven't received the official Fedex notice or the "gift" they indicated they were sending? Has anyone else received it yet?

UT-Houston Interview Rate & Acceptance Rate

This is what I gather from conversation & information sessions:

40% of applicants get an interview.
29% of applicants get accepted.

29/40 => Approx 73% of students that get interviewed, are accepted.

So I just got an email inviting me to interview at McCombs. I applied in R3. The email states I must interview by Mar 1 (4 days away). I have a Skype option, but I want to visit and interview onsite (On Mar 1 Friday)
The scheduling tool shows that all interview spots onsite are taken for the next 4 days . I cannot seem to find class visits or info sessions available for the days leading up to this time as well.

Any thoughts? Am I left with no choice but the Skype interview?
Should I mail admissions? I really want to visit! I didn't know that interviews must be completed by Mar 1 :(

I haven't received the welcome packet either. I'm not really worried about it, it took them a while to even update my status online to accepted.

I was just sent my UT ID today but havent gotten an interview as a round 2 consortium applicant. Anyone else in the same boat? Is this email automated or does it actually mean they are looking at my application. I saw that someone today got an interview invite.

I'm also a 2nd round consortium applicant and I received the same email as you today.

I wonder if all scholarship calls have gone out. The original congratulatory e-mail I received on February 11th noted that scholarship info would be sent out in a couple weeks. I've checked the financial aid section of the online portal and it says to check back in two weeks. Unfortunately I have to make a decision on another school soon. Nerve-wracking stuff.

EDIT: Heard back from the admissions office. All scholarship info has been sent out for this round.

I don't think that any Rd2 admit has received the welcome binder.

It's worth a shot emailing the admissions office to explain your situation, especially if you haven't seen/visited campus yet.

However I will say that there does not appear to be any disadvantage to a Skype interview in terms of your probably for admission. Most schools truly don't care whether the interview is conducted in-person or over Skype. It's all about personal preference, so I guess if you'd be much more comfortable doing the interview in person, let them know that and see if they can find time for you on campus. Congrats on the Interview, btw.

Round 3 applicant here with no interview still: hmmm, anybody else in the same boat? I think the admission committee should tell those in libo that they are certain they will not admit that they are denied straight up like HBS do - I rather have that then this wait and hope.

Admitted folks: your thoughts on still not being invited to interview at this stage of the game? Dimming chances?

Just curious on y'all thoughts. The admission process seems very murky at UT-A. If they are doing Skype interviews (esp. last minute) - in theory they should be able to interview all that they deem "qualified" with enough help from the free labor of 2nd yrs.

Alphawiskey,

I know for a fact that they are sifting through a big pile of applications. I heard through the grape vine that some satellite programs are helping UT-A review applications.

Thanks,

I am in the same boat as well. I think the last day to interview is March 1st, so we have probably lost our chance. I have pretty much given up any hope.
